The A-THERM 80 50.1 utilizes natural refrigerant R290 (propane), ensuring minimal environmental impact with a GWP of just 3. It delivers water temperatures up to 80°C, making it a direct replacement for fossil fuel heating systems without requiring terminal upgrades.

High-temperature heat pumps have suffered from compressor reliability issues at the high operating pressures required for high temperature operation.  Pressures above 40 bar are required for high temperature operation with  R290 refrigerant..
